Police Blotter: Suspects Arrested In Commercial Burglary

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, employees from the Highland Walgreens contacted police to report two male suspects stole items from the location. The subjects fled prior to the deputies arrival and were not located.

On Friday, April 25, 2014, at 1:20 p.m., Walgreens employees observed the same subjects back in the store and again contacted police. The suspects fled on foot, however deputies located them a short distance from the store. The suspects are identified as Geoffrey Thomas, 59, and Alvin Simmons, 46, both reportedly residents of San Bernardino. Further investigation revealed Thomas and Simmons would take receipts out of the trash can, steal the items on the receipt and return the items for a cash refund.

Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center where they are being held on suspicion of Commercial Burglary (PC 459) and held on $50,000 bail. Police Blotter: Suspects Arrested in Attempted Rape

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, on Friday, April 18, 2014, at approximately 4:35 PM, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 27400 Block of Villa Lane in response to a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed that the victim had been assaulted and the suspect attempted to force her to perform sexual acts on him. The suspect, Highland resident Austin Rodriguez, 25, fled the scene as deputies arrived and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect's father, Highland resident Agustin Rodriguez, 60, drove to the area, picked up his son and attempted to help him flee the area. Both suspects were later located and arrested in the City of Long Beach and subsequently booked into Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.

Austin Rodriguez is suspected of assault with the intent to commit rape (PC 220) and Domestic Violence (PC 273.5). He is reportedly on active CDC Parole and is being held without bail. Agustin Rodriguez is suspected of being an Accessory to a Crime (PC 32) and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. Anyone with information about this incident may contact Det.
