Police Blotter: Suspects Arrested In Commercial Burglary

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, employees from the Highland Walgreens contacted police to report two male suspects stole items from the location. The subjects fled prior to the deputies arrival and were not located.

On Friday, April 25, 2014, at 1:20 p.m., Walgreens employees observed the same subjects back in the store and again contacted police. The suspects fled on foot, however deputies located them a short distance from the store. The suspects are identified as Geoffrey Thomas, 59, and Alvin Simmons, 46, both reportedly residents of San Bernardino. Further investigation revealed Thomas and Simmons would take receipts out of the trash can, steal the items on the receipt and return the items for a cash refund.

Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center where they are being held on suspicion of Commercial Burglary (PC 459) and held on $50,000 bail. Anyone with information about this incident may call Deputy Cruz at the Highland Police Station, (909) 425-9793, ref. case #131401630.
