Police Blotter: Pharmacy Robbed, Deputy Tails Suspect

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at approximately 5:32 PM, deputies responded to the CVS Pharmacy in Highland for a report of a theft. The responding deputies were informed that an off-duty deputy observed the store manager chasing a male subject through the store parking lot.

The off duty deputy followed the subject through surrounding streets, where he led deputies to the 2700 block of 13th Street. The subject was located and identified as George Luva of San Bernardino. Luva was positively identified by the store manager in an infield line up.

During the investigation, it was discovered Luva threatened the manager after leaving the store with the merchandise.

Police Blotter: CVS Robbed On Easter Sunday

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, a suspect described as a hispanic male adult dressed in a black hat, black hoodie (hood pulled over his head), blue jeans and black gloves, forced his way into the manager's office in the rear of the CVS Pharmacy after knocking on the key pad door. An employee opened the key pad door and the suspect explained he needed to use the bathroom. The employee opened the door for him and turned to go back into the office.

Instead of going into the bathroom, the suspect forced his way into the office, grabbed the employee by the hair and forced her to the ground. Once inside the office, the suspect kept his back to the video surveillance camera and forced the employee to the ground telling her, "I have a gun. If you scream, I'll kill you!"

The suspect then removed an undisclosed amount of cash (multiple denominations and coins) and placed it into a brown canvas or nylon bag. The suspect then exited the manager's office and left the store.

Deputies arrived on scene while the call was being aired by dispatch, but the suspect was able to flee the area.

Police Blotter: Three Arrested In Pharmacy Thefts

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, on February 11, 2009 at approximately 4:35 p.m., North Hollywood residents Nelson Carcamo, Carolina Descua, and Eda Chavez conspired to steal merchandise from CVS Pharmacy and Walgreen Stores in the San Bernardino County area.

According to the release, the suspects were observed by store employees entering the CVS store at 27310 Baseline Street in Highland. they entered the store with empty purses and exited the store with their purses full of stolen merchandise. Store employees called 911 which alerted Highland Deputies in the area who quickly apprehended the suspects as they left the business in their vehicle. Upon search of the vehicle, deputies located over $3000 of stolen merchandise belonging to CVS and Walgreen stores. After interviewing the suspects they were arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on suspicion of commercial burglary and conspiracy.
