According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department news release, on Tuesday, March 17th, following an extensive investigation, investigators submitted their report to the District Attorney's Office for review. In addition to the murder charge filed against the suspect, Matthew Duronio in the death of Anthony Vargas, an additional charge of attempted murder has been filed against him. During the altercation, a second victim, Chris Basurto, was stabbed in his hand. Basurto was reportedly attempting to help Vargas when the suspect also stabbed Basurto. Investigators have interviewed numerous persons who stated that they witnessed Duronio stabbing both Vargas and Basurto.
Both suspect vehicles have been located and are being processed at the Sheriff's Scientific Invesitgations Division.
